Biography of Amanda Chen

I have been living in Hong Kong for more than 7 years now. I enjoy exploring yummy food and the beautiful hiking places here. My regular workout routine brings me more energy to face any challenges.

I love interacting with children hence I have being working with 1 to 6 year olds in international schools for nearly 6 years. I have worked as an educational assistant and a class teacher and have also taught playgroup. I studied law in China and sustainable tourism in Chinese University of Hong Kong, which enables me to communicate fluently in English and Mandarin as well as Cantonese. I completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education at Baptist University two years ago. The nature of this diploma course has prepared me as a Qualified Kindergarten Teacher as well as a registered Child Care Worker and Child Care Supervisor.

I believe that each child is unique, and has the potential to bring something special to the world. Children learn through play, as play is a happy learning experience with sensory activities as the medium of learning. Through a combination of guided and undirected creative play, children have opportunities to establish a positive learning attitude and to develop life-long skills. Each learner should be allowed to learn at his/her own pace. As a teacher, my goal is to provide children with a rich environment where they feel safe to explore, initiate learning, and feel free to express themselves and to interact with peers and adults. Their smiles and laughs will always be my daily motivation!
